A Green And Brown Beaufighter Emerges

Post by Epap » Sun Jan 26, 2014 6:09 am

I got tired of waiting on HM to put out a 1940 day fighter scheme for the Beaufighter, though this is rumored to be in the offing, so I took a damaged HM all-black Beau, repaired it and turned it into a 604th Squadron green and brown over sky adorned machine. The ancient decals ( Esci ) were also a problem but I eventually got that sorted out as well. Here's a topside picture of my redo:Image

That's fantastic Epap! I have a night fighter in 1/32 (model of course).

What is the purpose of the bubble canopy aft of the wing ? I don't see any guns involved with it.

The bubble canopy you refer to was for the "observer" who, on most Beaufighters, served as navigator, radio man and rear gunner. The latter function is evident on later Beaufighters but pictures of the earlier models often do not show a machine gun. I believe that one was carried, however, but not always displayed.

Thanks, Ketelone. This was a long delayed project and I'm glad that I finally completed it.
