This was made one of board member grunt1's Shapeways 3D printing kits. I went with the German Army gray as it would work the majority of my 1:18 German figures & vehicles (I've only got one Fallschrimjager unpackaged, the rest are carded). After seeing the pictures, I can see a few hard-to-reach spots that still need a little touching up... Nevertheless, enjoy :D

This was my first time working with a Shapeways 3D printed product. The kit was really nice and easy to build. Still, it had its own unique attributes compared to building a regular plastic kit or one of Pickelhaube's resin kits. The material is much more lightweight and fragile, so you have to work with it carefully. Not much sanding is required, though you do need to wash & scrub the parts to remove dust prior to painting or gluing. The material (which is akin to a hard foam) also tends to soak up paint, so more than one layer is often reqired. Still, I will get further products from grunt1's Shapeways!

I love how well the detail of the new tire tread shows up in the last photo. That made the effort to update the tires worth it! The mud looks just right. Nice work!

How is that mud effect done? Is it like that testors acrylic mud or what?

I worked with Peddinghaus decals to get both the rear and curved front fender license plate decals. He has an existing Kettenkrad decal sheet that just needs to be resized for 1:18, which he will do on request. If you choose to contact him, make sure to give him specific measurements that you need. Don't simply ask for 1:18 as the interpretation of what 1:18 is, especially with decals, varies quite a bit.
