Corsair Tire Tread Pattern question.

Hey fellas. Anyone have a little insight into Corsair Tread Patterns
The XD Bunker Hill Corsair has radial lines around the tires. Bbi have no tread on their Marines Dream.
Are they both correct? When was the Diamond tread pattern used (Pacific, beach/dirt runways perhaps)?

I think they only ever used diamond tread tires.

The radial line and no tread tires were used later in the war for land based aircraft as well as the diamond patterned treads so so later in the war there is no wrong answer to you your question.

Good to know. I kinda prefer the Diamond Tread for some reason.

I posed that same question at the Museum a while back. In practical use, the diamond tread was designed for grass/dirt strips and the radial line tread for hard surfaces. That is straight from a P-51/T-6/B-25/TBM/Stearman (and about another dozen types) pilot and restoration professional. I'll have to see what our Corsair is going to have when restored.

Hey Axis, How is the forward facing landing gear door fixed?
I gather it's obviously not fixed directly to the gear strut because the gear swings though 90 degrees as it goes up/down.
Is the door attached in such a way, to allow the strut to rotate around a collar or something?
