I got this last week and when I opened the box I was astonished!
The Goliath was so well made, so detailed I was taken back and marveled at the crisp detail 8)

Painting it was not "hard" but was a bit time consuming due to the fact that the tracks do not roll and cannot be removed so a long sharp brush was used to get in to all those tight little areas. It reminded me of painting 1/72 armor in that regard. I first shot it with primer and then German Army Grey, then white wash, then painted the tracks, the a dark brown wash, then the mud and rust detail, then shot it with model master dull coat to seal it all in. Used a flower stem wire (paint-able) for the wire and scratch made the controller and strap.

I thought what better to go with the Goliath than the Soviet Goliath! So I made one from scratch!!

Yes! the feared Soviet Anti-tank Dog!! 8)

I coudn't resist a reunion of these two great weapons and how well they symbolized the entire war!
The over engineered high tech Germans vs the cold blooded overly simplistic Soviets..

Their all friends now

In fact "Heinz" lets "Ivan's" dog chase his tank!! :P

Thanks Guys, hope you enjoy my brand of insanity

Great Job. Which one of these did you get the regular 1:18 or the 1:18 XL version?

They both look fantastic. The control box is cool and despite the rough history of dogs in war, you do a great job honoring their sacrifices by capturing the subject so well. Nice work!

ooh, that's a nice anti tank mine dog. I made one a couple of years ago out of a GI Joe dog. I reworked the front legs as if in a crouch, so i could slide it under a panzer iv. I made the trip handle on its back out of really rubbery plastic so it would bend but not break off when i pushed the dog under the tank.

That Schleich dog looks really good; better than the Joe dog, and nice detailing on the satchel.

Why is there an XL version?

Did the Germans have two sizes of this?

no.

the first one G1 made was a bit underscale, so he upscaled it to 1/18, which is now called the XL version.

Yes. I left the smaller one up there for those that were more price sensitive than scale conscious.
