Small Scale Military Headquarters

Hi,

Ive just joined up on this fantastic forum and wanted to say how fantastic the topics and help topics have been on customizing all the large scale products available.

So the project im working on over the coming week or 2 is this RAAF F-86 CAC custom in the Black Diamonds Aerobatics team. I'm use to customizing 1/200 airliners but i thought id try some 1/18 scale military stuff and see how it goes. So far so good! The actual model is not a true CAC sabre due to the fact the CAC sabre had a much larger intake vent and fuselage..... but this will have to do!

So i started with a Admiralty toys Jolly rogers F-86 far Ive removed all tampo printing on the fuselage, filled the 50 cal machine gun ports and just put the first coat of silver on her. The photos here of her before she went into the spray shed. I intend to use decals for the cannons. Ill also be doing the cockpit head rest with the diamond pattern just like the read thing.

The decals for this i have customized using my ALPS and Laser printer and using Adobe illustrator and Photoshop for editing. Ill have to redo all stenciling and produce it in 1/18 scale which is not a biggy as i have them on A4 size sheet of paper (placement diagram)

A Big thanks to TKO for his help and how to remove the tampo printing.

Hi guys,

Well thank for the welcome and kind comments. Well i have done a little bit more work on her today. Ive painted up the black on the fuselage and grey on the tail and removed the head rest on the ejection seat and painted that up.

Another update- Ready to decal!

Another update and Ive managed to do the major insignia decal ling... just the Stenciling to go! So should be done by Thursday with any luck!

Thanks guys much appreciated! Well here she is all done and dusted!

All stenciling/touch ups and i even replaced the fuselage band with a thicker version as i didn't like the black band on it previously so i think it looks much better now have been done today. Also the clear coat semi gloss was used sparingly over the model to protect the decals.

Photos were taken on the floor as the dining table was full of other stuff and these models are huge....

The Cannons are actually decals! there was no way of my redoing the cannon muzzles so i just used decals... Turned out spot on

She turned out fantastic, and looks like a TKO special. High praise.
