A Frogfoot Gets Redone

There are two diecast lines that have just put out a SU-25, or "FrogFoot", ground attack plane long used by the Soviets and their allies. One is the DeAgostini publisher subscription series rendition, now available on eBay, but of generally lower quality and in smaller scales---probably 1:100-1:120th. The second is from Altaya, another subscription line, but in 1:72nd scale--also to be found on eBay. I received my example of the latter recently and found it to be rather well detailed and without the huge seam gaps often found on such low budget models. The scheme wasn't well done, however, and the pitot heads and rocket pods, in particular, were overly large and crudely made. Here's a picture of the Altaya model as I received it:Image

I decided to redo the scheme in a generic motif, as the appropriate decals weren't readily available and rather than yanking off the underwing stores and the pitot head and replacing them with parts from a kit, I contented myself with making what repairs were possible. Here's the result:Image
