Started build on the Hurricane finally. Assembly is mostly complete and painted the camo in earth brown and RAF green for BOB Bader LED version. Overall was frustrating build as the resin Jack used is softer than normal model plastic so parts warped and I didn't even store it in the heat. I need decal from Jackson for the boot kicking Hitler and still have way to go but it is progressing.
Some new pictures of hurricane build. finished camo paint, installed gun hole areas, finished painting most of the parts like wheels and gear. Jack did it again as I got 2 landing gear covers the same so I made 1 out of plastic and styrene I had. One on the left is one I scratch made.I added some seat belts and did some detail in cockpit. Still need air scoop and Boot kicking decals - Jackson please help.

Looking good so far!

I know what you mean by a Skyworks kit being a frustrating build... A couple years ago, I got one of his ME-163 Komet kits, figuring how hard could it be to assemble such a simple plane? The kit was odd to say the least... While the castings looked great and required little sanding, parts were assembled that shouldn't have been and some of the plastic broke on mine as well. Annoyed, I put the kit in storage and never finished it - finally selling it to a fellow board member.

On the contrary, while they often required a ton of sanding and filling, I've never had the problems or QC issues with Pickelhaube's kits that I felt I had with the Skyworks one.

Good luck with your build.

I have had the plastic break in about 3 spots. I agree the PH kits are much better quality. I also have a Komet kit and it was one of those factory seconds. Its a joke. I will try one day to do something with it.

It sure is a beauty to bad of were it came from.

But because of his notoriety ,that may just make it that more collectible.

I have one of the KI61 Tony kits just waiting to be built-and I agree that the resin is definately soft and unstable!

Gliderdwn,
Did you put some kind of metal spar across the length of the wingspan to add some stability/strength to the model?? Just wondering. The kit itself looks great and you painted it up very nicely.

I did add some custom pieces inside parts of the wings especially the parts that got warped. Kit was OK in that it is unique but for the price Jacks customs are a bit too much and have big issues.
