Small Scale Military Headquarters

i just finished making a winter panther and i was going to put snow on the tracks using artificial snow from a jar that i got at Michael's. It was all dried up though so in frustration and rage i tried using some casting plaster i had on hand.

I mixed it to the consistancy of a thick paint and then just painted it on with a brush where i wanted it to go. It looks pretty good and was fairly quick and quite easy to do. The only concern is how well it will hold up over time.

I don't plan to roll the tank on its tracks or anything...it's a static model as far as i'm concerned. Anyone ever used this and have insights to share?

It might crack if it is banged or something.

I've used plaster and Spackle, not at the same time and not for snow.
Plaster for mud / dirt on road wheels and track. If you roll the tank while the plaster is damp, it will stay in the same places mud would on the 1:1 vehicle.
Spackle for Zimmerit.
Both can be brushed on and then painted and both are very durable, when dry you'll have a heck of a time getting either of them off.
If it looks like snow, all the better.....no painting.

so far it's worked well. If you make it thin and watery and brush it on it gives a nice frosted look and if you mix it thicker you can mound it on like thick snow.
