Samantha
Here is a WIP sherman M4A3 for my battle of the bulge diorama.
So far so good! I'm not really good at mud but I think it came out good!!! I think I did a good job at the white wash! What do y'all think?
Also, the pics where taken under my work lamp ans they are not the best.

Nice piece! The paint technique captures the combat wear and tear nicely. The dental floss tool is somewhat out of scale for that tank crew though!

Re: Samantha
The pointy end made a good paint stir-er...
It is unused of course. LOL

Re: Samantha
The rust streaks where done with oil paints. ANd the hairspray method is fun!
You paint your base coat. Apply one coat of hairspray, two tops. Then apply your topcoat which HAS to be acrylic. Once all dry, apply some water, let it soak into the hairspray and with a stiff brush start chipping paint away. If the top coat was enamel or lacquer, the water would not be able to soften the hairspray.

Nice job there, looks dirty and cold. Running gear looks filthy.
Re: Samantha
Really nice work FB. Shoot some B&W's with a backdrop and this could easily pass for the real deal.

You're getting quite good at these finishing techniques aren't you young Padawan.

Re: Samantha
Very nice, I really like the look of it, great winter wash and just enough mud ( of course I always over do the mud, all those years of off-roading I suppose )
Re: Samantha
That is a good looking Sherman. I like the muddy contrast on the track system and the fuel spillage.
Re: Samantha
that's awesome where did you get those lettering decals? I am working on my first custom ever, a FOV sherman repaint. any weathering, rust, dirt, paint coats, washes, etc. advice would be appreciated

That's pretty much the best white wash job I've seen. Very convincing.
