A Matchbox P-38 Repaint

Post by Epap » Sun Sep 18, 2011 9:36 am

When the Matchbox 1:72th scale models appeared at Toys r Us and other mass distribution outlets 8-9 years ago I had the foresight to pick up large numbers of them, including "extras"for repainting purposes. Years later, I'm still modifying these models. A recent example, is Matchbox's OD P-38J, which comes with invasion stripes and Christmas tree rocket packs. I decided that I wanted a plain, pre-invasion OD machine instead and selected a plane from the 338th Fighter Squadron as I had a decal set that gave the required markings. Here's a picture of the model in its original form:Image
