Small Scale Military Headquarters

A while back, I took one of my drab two greens over light blue/gray Corgi JU-88s and redid it in a very effective Wellenmuster weave camouflage overlay that was used by JU-88s of I/KG 54 "Totenkopf" in anti-invasion attacks over the Allied beach heads in Sicily and, later, at Salerno. Here's how the model looked originally:

And here is how it came out after the addition of a sand color replacing one of the greens and the Wellenmuster weave patterns-----plus some weathering and staining effects:

This one, I liked the original better.

I agree, though simply putting the pattern over the original camo may have produced a better look, it disappears somewhat on the yellow, I would like to see pics of the bottom of one painted like that.

It's a freaking annoying scheme... Makes me dizzy to look at. LOL Great job MR!!!

The Germans used the camo all through the war .But I never have been a fan of it.
The only one that I have seen ( pictures )that I liked was the Stuka night fighter/bomber.

The squiggles were sort of blue and it looked cool.

I really like the JU-188 night fighter with it, very cool

The squiggles are the same color as the light blue on the bottoms.

Unlike its fighters, most of Germany's bombers continued to use the two-green over light blue/gray ( RLM 70 and 71 plus 65 )scheme that was employed at the outset of the war through to its finish. However the squiggles on planes such as the one I created and others usually consisted of the lighter RLM 76, which was used on the sides and undersides of most fighters after late 1941, for the topside and a much darker color----often dark gray or even black for the undersides. This shows up clearly in the photo I posted. German night fighters frequently were painted in RLM 76 over-all, with dark gray blotches or squiggles added on their topsides.
