MY Pakwagen

Here are some pictures of my custom sd.kfz 251/22 pakwagen. Not finished as you can see, I have only given it the base coat, a little shading with the airbrush and some filters and washes to the interior.

The top part of the hull has not been glued back down, I have to finish weathering the interior first.
I made a full brass axle, front wheels turn, folding travel lock, working drivers viewport.

Some of the other things I've made for it are:
- Removed bottom of pak 40 shield and cut notches out of each side
- working viewport
- added front armor plate
- brass crank starter
- late version engine hatches with brass hinges and latches
- added a Bosch headlight from spare parts
- brass wheel caps
- re shaped top plate arc for pak 40
- brass loops and tie downs
- travel lock
- towing pintle pin and chain
- brass pak 40 handguard
- brass muffler
- brass tool holders, width markers, PE clamps, fire extinguisher
- front hooks and antenna mount and base
- replace gigantic clunky toy hinges on rear doors with scale hinges
and a bunch of other things.

I have a little ways to go before I'm finished, I have to figure out where I can get some decals for it and I had thought about leaving it
in dark yellow, but now I'm not so sure if I don't want to paint a camouflage scheme.

Your doing a great job.
Detail work can take forever to do.

Indeed, but I've never seen a better pakwagen yet!
Remember, Pakwagens came late in the war (Late 1945) and where RARE! So chose a color scheme accordingly.
So far so good!!!

Thanks for the comments guys.
I've learned quite a lot about these, trying to make accurate parts you learn a thing or too. They actually started production in dec 1944 and likely there were less than 100 made. Surprisingly there are quite a lot of photo's of these.
There is one in existance left I know of.
Flyboy, I haven't decided whether I'll leave it dark yellow yet. Seems less interesting. From the photo's I've gathered I see 3 or 4 different paint schemes.
It does take a long time to make the detail parts (OCD). Originally I just wanted to make the travel lock missing from the 21st version and repaint.
Any feedback/critique is welcome.

Yeah those are nice
I think the first pic was inspired by this one
Don't care for the camouflage in the 3rd pic, never liked that "ambush" scheme.
a few more

I like that one. I've seen a few different variations with "432" that one looks nice and beaten up.
blitzhazed- The only parts I didn't actually make myself were the 2 photo etch clamps and the Bosch headlight. The clamps are from ABER and the headlight is a spare from my Tamiya Tiger.

Thats really some impressive work you've put into your pakwagen. I really like all the extensive detail.
Here's a picture of one that I have done.(pre weathering effects)

Great looking camouflage, is that 1/18? It looks like you made parts as well? Antenna, late engine hatch, travel lock and other bits?
One thing I did was to sand down the treads on the tires which looked to "square" I wanted to give them more of a rounded worn look.
What did you do with yours?, they look like real tires.
Very nice job, where did you get your decals from?

Thanks, yeah I just sanded the edges of the treads to make a more convincing tire shape. I haven't painted mine yet but 1958Zelda's look great.
