1/18 Custom Resistance Guntruck (new pics 18 Aug 11)

Post by C130IM » Tue Aug 02, 2011 7:16 pm

Working on several custom and scratchbuild projects. TOVREX-S ground destroyer, invader main battle tank, human resistance vehicles, and custom figures (invader, resistance, regular military).

There are issues with the FB links so will upload the images from photobucket.

This is my first new custom vehicle. Started over weekend.

Southern Resistance Heavy Guntruck. Salvaged and built by members of the South Carolina Resistance. Still working on it but will have it finished and painted in couple weeks.

LOL REALLY COOL!!!!
I would leave the rockets off of it though. Just the Quad and the .50 upfront. Look at pics of the Sh-t going down in Libya for some inspiration!!! Keep it up!

Thanks guys!! The rockets mounted atop the quad .50 was a last minute decision to add additional armor punch.

The styrene was used in combo with steel plated patterned sheet plastic. It will look good when all said and done. Nice part about the rockets is they detach :)

Keep comments coming.

Pickelhaube I was actually going to add 2 launchers on each side but held off and left it as it was. But made them detachable.

I'm actually almost done with this Guntruck. Added storage compartments to undercarriage. Finished adding armor plating to the front and rear sections of the truck. Going to add flip down armor plates for the cabin section. All really left is to paint.

Since this is a modified and basically rebuilt WWII truck, added additional suspension so can handle the additional weight of the armor and the quad 50. I am planning in building couple variants of this Guntruck since they are rebuilds in combat zone.

That is a cool link Jnewboy. I can see ample opportunity to make some pretty unique vehicles based on what I saw in those pictures!

Wow

Cool link Jnewboy

Seeing these pics had me imagining how Terminator Judgement Day Resistance fighters would've been like with the innovativeness and desperation. In pic 25, where and how did they get that FN2000?

Nice work C130 8)

Some more pics of the Resistance Guntruck. Added passenger side .50 cal, smoke grenade, finished doors with rivets, added rear door blast plate, attached laptop to passenger side cabin, and installed 1.0mm red LED for tactical night driving with infrared/night vision sensors.

Hopefully picture quality is better. Used Krylon grey primer for the whole vehicle. Olive drab for the truck. Still deciding on which way to go with the armor plating (paint color). Hopefully the initial paint job will provide better picture of the vehicle. Once painted have to weather and add damage to areas of the truck.

Thanks guys. Just realized as I neared completion of this projec... Damn! Forgot the quad .50 seat is too small to seat many Joe or other 1/18 figures! So modifying the quad .50; extending the rear section so gunner can sit in it. May use opportunity to make some other additions and mods to the quad .50. Hopefully it will still turn out okay.

Updated pics of the quad 50. Used green stuff to extend the rear section of the gunner seat. It can easily seat any 1/18 figure. Adding some other controls and wires to the modified quad 50. Note replaced the missile launchers with 2 dual missile launchers.

Will add backblast protection to the side of the launchers to protect the gunner.

Decided on using steel paint color on the armor plates. Going with weathering the plates with combination rust, dust, black, etc. May use airbrush with narrow spray to simulate a person attempt to spraypaint the steel panels, giving an inconsistent pattern. Still tossing around which way I'd go with this.

Opinions on paint scheme and quad 50 modification, please let me know.
