Small Scale Military Headquarters

Im wondering if anyone has any new recommendations for tools and putty,

Ive used dry-hard clay and Alex Acrylic latex caulk, never used Aves but I have heard it is good.

I need a full set of tools in 1/18 or 1/16 as there are 6 or so different distinct patterns thought the vehicles it was used on.

I am looking for any recommendations... Thanks

I have used Squadron putty for zimmerit in the past, and it works well.
I don't think anyone makes actual zimmerit tools in the large scales but a while back, I saw someone use a cut hacksaw blade as a zimmerit tool.

Sure, a screw driver works great for that pattern but what about the waffel pattern or the tile pattern seen on Panthers and Stugs

Hmmm, waffle pattern, you're going to have to make a stamp yourself methinks. There may be something made for 1/16 armor maybe, but to be honest i know nest to nothing about that scale and what's available.

For the waffle. Try sanding down a Allen wrench so you have a perfect square. Then you can make the waffle pattern. Just keep it small.

That seems like it would take a long time to do waffle zimmerit like that, making each tiny square individually. I was thinking more along the lines of making a stamp. i would take a piece of sheet styrene, something fairly thick, and then cut out a square as big as a square worth of the waffle pattern (if you look at pictures you can see it was applied in squares). After you have an appropriate sized piece cut out, mark out the grid pattern that would need to be made. Then you would take a razor saw with an appropriate blade width (The same width as the distance between the little squares in the waffle pattern) and saw out the spaces between the smaller squares in the pattern. Once complete you'd probably want to apply a dab of zimmerit material and then stamp it, one square at a time to so that you could manage to get the best quality without working while the clock is ticking on drying material waiting to be stamped.

But, as always, there is more than one way to skin a cat, so it ultimately is up to user preference.

Are they made out of plastic or metal ?

The waffel pattern would be such a pain to do.

And to make it look right even more of a pain.

metal, but no luck yet, they only like to ship inside Germany...
