A Normandy Diorama for the New Year

I was given a new work space over the holidays and after using it to work on a few projects I decided to make a diorama. It features a couple of custom pieces which I am quite proud of, including a repainted Britains Daimler scout car which i haven't posted here yet. The Achilles finally has the .50 added and the Monogram jagdpanzer IV is something I picked up on ebay. The figures are a mix of those "new" 21st century British paras and the Germans are FOV mostly.

The scene is supposed to depict a battle inland from Sword Beach in the outlying French villages around Caen. All the British units in the photo were in the British I Corps, and although I do not peg this to a specific battle, it is possible the units fought together. The units are as follows:

1/32 Achilles= British 62nd Anti-Tank Regiment
1/32 Daimler Scout Car= Inns of Court Regiment
1/32 Paras= British 6th Airborne Division

The Germans are 12th SS

PanzerArm, Vary nicely done, that's a large dio. 8) Your armor looks great and I especially like the Achilles.Thats one thing I like about 1:32nd , there are plenty of armor choices unlike 1:18th.
The buildings and ground debris look very believable, are the buildings custom or kits? What did you use for the background? It really adds depth to the diorama. Great stuff!!

You know that Mg 42 could easily kill the Gunner and commander.

Thanks for the compliments guys

Normandy, the diorama buildings/groundworks themselves are actually made by a company called Frontline. It is 24" x 32" and takes up a little over half my hobby desk. I was able to get one on ebay for cheaper than you can find them retail, and even though still expensive I justify it by telling myself this is a diorama I can just pack up in a box and not have to deal with messing gravel/dust/accesory clean up, and I can make it as big or as small as I want to since it is in pieces.

I used a still screenshot from a movie as my background. I had to edit it a tad to get some people out of it, but it turned out well and I'm really happy with it. Anyone know which movie???

I think I'm going to make new crew for the Achilles since the crew I'm using now from the 21st Firefly don't quite fit right. I also feel they are exposing themsleves too much, and as you all pointed out their vulnerability to the MG42 gunner in the church tower is going to make for an interesting day.

It's a still from Saving Private Ryan.

I hope Steven Spielberg's attorneys don't come after me now... :?
