Small Scale Military Headquarters

is there a source of large sheet plastic? Ideally 3 feet square or larger. It would have to be thin enough to be cut with strong scissors and be able to be scored and bent a bit without snapping, so styrene plastic would be no good as it's too brittle.

Something like the plastic that is used for the windows of 21c boxes would be perfect only stiffer, doesn't matter if it's clear or opaque.

Any ideas?

You seek Sintra. Comes in many different sizes and the thiinner stuff can be cut with scissors. I use the stuff all the time for my costumes. Look around your local sign shops and ask for scrap, they may give some to you for free.

I don't know about Canada Aferg, but I've gone through a variety of plastic suppliers. I get sheets anywhere from 1/4" thick to paper thin. It's sheet styrene, and a $60 min purchase, plus you will need a truck to get it home. I have a Dakota mini-pick-up to haul my sheets, and they are still curled in the bed some.

Just a tip too, if you go this route, is to lay cloth down as sheets of styrene scratch easily.

Any medium sized city or larger should have a plastics supplier. Styrene comes in 4'x8' sheets. .060 can be bent and cut easily with a utility knife. Thinner stuff can be cut with scissors.

Here's a source for Sintra. It might be pricier than you care for, though. As Tambo says, the thin stuff cuts easily enough with heavy scissors or (my preference) a cutting wheel. It bends easily with a little heat and is sturdy enough to hold its shape. They also have some that is self adhesive.

There may be a supplier of the PVC used for vacuum-formed packaging near you. If so, that might be cheaper than the Sintra, if it suits your need.
