How to convert any figure w/tunic to fit the Indy Bike

Post by pickelhaube » Sun May 16, 2010 2:26 pm

I had to get away from making the sidecar pieces for a while so I decided to try and alter a figure to fit the Indy bike.

The figure that comes with it works fine but it has that goofy helmet and as my buddy Robbie in Oregon says " it looks like a puppet "

That actually gave me the idea on how to alter a figure.

If you look at the Indy figure the thighs are about 3/8 in apart. Most of the 21st figs are only 1/8 th of a inch apart.

This is how you can rework it.
I have some brass rod a tubing that I get from Ace Hardware. a 1/16inch rod that fits into a 1/8 tube..

Pull the legs off the fig.the legs have sockets . Peen the end of the 1/6 brass rod flat and put a tiny bend in it. To fit in the socket.

CA glue the bent end in the leg socket.

Trying to work on the pelvic area resulted in it popping off. No big deal I drilled out the abdomen and pelvic area and used the 1/8th tubing as the pin . Then I drilled out the pelvic area to accept the 1/16th leg pins. To make a kind of an upside down "T "

Slide in the leg pins to the "T " and push up into body. The tunic hides the area nicely

Here is the fig on the bike. IT TOOK LONGER TO FIDLE WITH THE FIGURE THAN TO DO THE MOD.

It only about 1/2 hr to do this . No measurements. I just looked at the Indy fig as the guide.

Try it it is easy to do. :D

Nice work Pickel, I was only thinking of the passenger in the side car and how to make him fit. Thought I'd have to stick with the Hasbro bike driver/rider and in his greatcoat.
I've pulled the extra gear off some of the bikes I have in order to add the side cars but never knew the helmet on the bike rider came off. so that gives me a few  's

THE FIGS FIT IN THE CAR WITH NO MODIFICATION NEEDED!!!

Because of the larger scale size they fit like a glove !!!

VMF 115,

There was something to taking the legs off for a nano second I was squeemish :D

Nice work with the new ariculation :D

On my bike, I wound up using the kneeling legs that came with some of the later 21c D-Day Germans. Those figures also come with a "bent" tunic that helps the figures sit better.
