My Pickelhaube 1:18 SDK-222

Thanks to Pickelhaube's amazing abilities with casting plastic, I now have a 1:18 scale SDK-222
I purchased this in kit form from Pickelhaube, which meant a lot of sanding, shaving, puttying and more sanding before I could even begin to assmeble the vehicle and paint it. Then I had problems with oils in the plastic on the turret and toolboxes not drying and leaving the paint sticky, even after stripping, sanding, and repainting the pieces. Luckily, Pickelhaulbe is NOT JSI and he recast me replacement parts which worked out perfectly.
The kit is essentially his with only a few small modifications, most notably the use of tiny RC aircraft hinges to make the turret screens open and close without falling off. There are also hand cranks on the gun and driver seats in the interior (not shown).
It is painted to resemble a vehicle attached to an armored regiment of the Panzer Division Gross Deutchland on the Eastern Front, sometime in the 1941-42 timeframe, albeit with some liberties probably taken with the markings...
Enjoy the pictures

Through and through, this was probably one of the more challenging kits I've yet attempted, but I am very pleased with the final results. So, thank you again, Pickelhaube for the great kit and excellent customer service. It was worth all the work
