found a neat little japanese cave

Post by aferguson » Fri Sep 18, 2009 6:37 am

i was poking around in a Petsmart the other day and came across a neat little cave thingy that i thought would be ideal for a japanese cave/bunker. It's called a reptile cave, probably about 12 inches square, hollow. Needs a repaint as it is brown but otherwise would make a dandy little cave to set up a japanese machine gun team for an iwo jima or okinawa diorama.

Cost was about $10.

Are you thinking of have the MG team on top of the rock or inside the cave?

I've found a lot of neet dio pieces at Petsmart. There are some really nice Jungle plants for Nam dios. I also like some of the ruins they have for fish tanks.

yeah that's why i went there, for fish tank ruins but didn't see anything to my liking. I saw a nice jungle piece that i thought would have been good for a pacific dio but it was expensive so i passed on it for now. The cave caught my eye so i went for that.

I would put the mg team inside the cave......the japanese were well known for using caves as natural bunkers and this is perfect for something like that.

Yeah, a nice find. I've found a variety of useful little pieces like this at my local Petsmart over the years. The nice thing about these, aside from being quite reasonably priced, is they are ready to use, and generally not much if anything needs to be done to them paint wise.

I purchased some of the Egyptian items: pillars, statues for a North Africa diorama. Figarti has a very expensive set with British SAS jeep and figures. I have the SAS figures and the jeeps and Chevy truck and the Pet Smart Egyptian stuff saved me a bundle....
