Birdcage Corsair

As I'm sure some of you know I really like F4U corsairs, and I really have a thing for F4U-1 (birdcage) corsairs. I thought it wouldn't be too hard to make a canopy. Well that's what I get for thinking.

After exploring different ways to make the canopy I finally decided that I wanted to resin cast it. So right now I'm working on the mold master. I'm using short strand glass reinforced bondo that I'm pressing into a plaster of paris mold negetive I made from a clay model. One of the problems I'm running into is I keep getting air pockets in the bondo, and that usually ruins the part. So if anyone with a little experiance with this sort of thing had any tips I would appreciate any help.

Here are a few pics of where I'm at right now. This part is getting tossed because of too many air pockets.

Thanks for the compliments guys. I'm not happy with it yet, but I'm going to keep working at it until I get something that works.

PH I'm a ways away from needing a canopy vacuum formed right now. I do appreciate the offer though, and when I'm ready you'll be getting a PM from me.
