A friend stopped over and saw the AVG P-40 I have been workin on and said “DUDE I gotta have one…where did you get that?”

I explained the whole sorted story of the end of 21st century and I was just detaining the poop out of this one …end of story…he says I‘ll pay ya for one….

OK so I agree go to TRU and see if they have any left…had three…ok game on…BUT scaled back…no aluminum guns or pitot tube, 20 pc cooling fins, landing lights, wheel covers…just enough detail to set it off.

So just enough detail to make it stand out. Did do the ring and post sight but less parts, fuel and oil behind the cockpit, antenna wires, extra decals, drilled out the .50 Cal. Blast tubes, and tricked the eye by sanding the goofy plastic fairing edge round and scribing the lines to give the “look” of cooling fins more definition, glued the crap out of the wing root to get a better Dihedral angle. added some weathering
and threw in a stand.

…NOW back to work on the main P-40

one last pic that really shows how a quick sanding, some black paint behind the cooling shrouds, filling the screw holes on the right & rear & adding the vent tubes in the left screw hole can dress up the P-40 big time. (.50 CAL. vent doors Opt.)

...and with some weathering

Quick fix for the landing gear: Painted the struts aluminum, added a “OLEO STRUT” decal, gave a wash of future, added a band of bare metal foil, painted the black swirl proper blue and gave a wash of Polly coat to make it look less like a sticker and more like a decal.

so there ya go, another P-40 off to a happy home.
