Phil, Your Wirbelwind is looking Great! and Pickels turret is a highly detailed model! I've got mine sitting on a gray RC Panzer IV.....still undecided on a camo scheme.

Fantastic job!

The zimmermit is very well done. What is your technique?

As I was a little bit lazy, I decided to use a rubber zimmerit made for the 1/16 Tiger tank instead of doing it with putty.

You can find some here :

you're welcome
It's very easy to use and can be cut without any difficulty. Use superglue to fix it but pay attention that it will be glued instantly.

So here is how my Wirbel is going on...

First, I have applied a dark filter on the hull. This to melt colors and highlight details. Turret have no filter at all to show you difference.

Now, filter is applied on turret too. Look how welding seams are now more visible.

And now the flak gun with some details added. No filter applied yet.

More to come.

New update...

As you can see, chipped paint is applied on both hull and turret.

The flak gun is also weathered.

Next step will be a more subtle weathering and another filter to add some more effect then a drybrush. Stay tuned.

Hi Rob,

I still need to do a crew for it

For the mud, I use white glue diluted with a bit of water and I add sand on the mixture. Applied with an old brush. Don't worry for glue trace as white glue become transparent when drying.

For painting, different shade of brown earth to give some relief. If you want a wet aspect, just add varnish to your paint.
