M.I.A. - CABE???

Post by PanzerArm » Wed Apr 29, 2009 8:11 am

I've been conducting several transactions with Cabe over the past few months and regular contact with him to check on progress is something I've depended upon to check on the status of my items. This is where my problems began, as of late I haven't been able to get a hold of him. I noticed he hasn't posted on the board in over a month, and I haven't actually heard from him in any way/shape/form in 8 days (which is odd because I usually text/speak with him every 2-3 days). I've tried texting, calling, and emailing and haven't gotten any response. He has over $700 worth of stuff that I've already paid for in his possession and to be quite honest the situation is getting me pretty worried. If anyone else out there has his number, or lives in the Dallas, TX area near where he lives I would appreciate it if you could try and get in contact with him and/or find out his whereabouts. And if you just happen to read this Cabe, you need to contact me a.s.a.p.

uh? I have no PMs from you and my inbox is 53% full

My email has 1 message from you on the 28th, that would be yesterday while I was asleep. I have been ill for 5 days. The email before that was from the 4th

I have cell phone text messages from you on the 24th, 27th and 28th
which I responded to this morning before I was aware of this post. I am only aware of it because someone emailed me and brought it to my attention

I realize you can and should get worried when folks get quiet holding your stuff. I also understand that you understand why I still have it and that was to send all the customs (5) and FoV you bought in one shipment so we were not pummeled to death by shipping fees.

I also have made it clear that I would love nothing more than to work on the commissions you and others have given me because I enjoy doing it. I would also like to spend more time with my 7 month old baby girl and fiancee who is sitting in the living room 24 hours a day by herself. When I am not working on my day job painting portraits on deadline (which means do it or get fired by xxx date) I am working on tanks. I love doing the tanks, I don't charge squat and I try to make the best possible product, this means not cutting corners and throwing in some extra work that may not have been in the original deal but I feel the final product would be less than perfect and bother me to send it feeling I could have done more. Like adding stowage or getting rid of seams or flash from the casting on parts. Also I am asked sometime to do scratch building or assemble parts of tanks that have been scratch built by the person commissioning the tank.

That all being said it isn't an excuse for all the time it has taken to complete these for you or anyone else. I have not been on this board at all for almost 2 months because
a) I have not had time at all
b) I am temped to buy stuff from the BST forum that I cannot afford right now.
When I took on the job(s) of painting these tanks I had hoped it would go a lot quicker. Much quicker than last time as last time had me having a child and moving into a new home in the middle of it.
But unfortunately babies need attention and mommies get mad at daddies and doctor bills pile up thanks to dishonest insurance companies, throw in unemployment taxes my job and own illnesses along with grandad almost keeling over in the hospital last week from surgical complications and you have me being quite unproductive this month but some how squeezing enough work to complete the rebuild on the mantlet on the tiger, remove the shovel and brackets on the front. Then I have other folks who have given me work to do and I don't want to neglect them.
I am guilty of several things
a) thinking things would calm down with a newborn around, both time wise and emotionally ...arguing with a mommy about the fact you don't have time to spend with her and the baby because you have to go paint tanks (even if it is a job) doesn't float, ask anyone in this forum about it and they will tell you they think its an excuse and the the fighting starts. You don't want me working on these angry because I just got nagged into a scream fest in the den. i don't do that because I don't deny the need to spend time with baby and mommy. I would be an a-hole if I didn't.
b) I am also guilty of taking on too much at one time. From here on out I will only take one request at a time because I fear having to defend my credibility when I know how hard I am working on all fronts, family, job, hobbies and hobbies with job-like implications. That doesn't mean you have to care about all of that yourself, you just want these done. Which I don't knock anyone who is waiting on me for. The thing that makes this all work is that I would much rather be working on the tanks too. I enjoy it.

Bottom line is I am not MIA I am just preoccupied. I won't make the mistake again. Now, I was painting road wheels on 6 tanks and preparing to put a filter on a large RC tank then paint 5 4x4 oil portraits due over the next 6 days. I am sure I will set down when I have forced breaks due to something drying on the canvas to get caught up in the tank area of my to do list. I want to have these all done in the next 2 weeks. Some will be done in 24 hours. But I will send pics when something interesting gets totally done. I am sorry I have been sick and not responded.

But you have to admit, finding out we needed to rebuild the entire face of the Tiger manlet set me back a few weeks and the shovel removal went off without so much trouble.

Silly Boy! 8)
You are finding out that when you have children everything else in your life goes on permanent hold! And when Momma is not Happy.............. Nobody is happy!
First, keep Momma happy! 2nd keep baby fed and/or entertained. Helps with #1. And then and only then you may get to take your activities off hold and continue life as you knew it!
RIGHT, in your dreams!
Good luck! :D

I once was told (when we had only one child) that "you are not really a parent until you have more than one!" Yeh, right! I am now much wiser. Oh, soooo true. You earn those stripes when there is more than one. I grew up as an only child, boy what a shock!

I have a 3 and a 7 -year-old and for some stupid reason thought I could start building models again. Its taken me almost two months to put together a 1/32 P-38 and I've only started painting now.

In my teens I was cranking them out like a factory hand.

Never mind all the other stuff I have no time to do that is actually important, but kids are worth it. Well, maybe not all of them but mine are at least. I know a few that could hitch a ride with a sack full of kittens.

Well, after a week from not hearing from you and no response to my texts/calls (which you typically responded to in hours), and finally an email out of desperation to see if you for some reason did not have access to your cell phone anymore, I was just starting to get into worry mode. And I think that is completely justified considering the money I have invested in the items you possess. Since I cannot physically be there to keep accountability of the items and their progress, I expect to be in contact with you fairly regularly, and that you keep me informed if say, you get sick and won't be available to work and/or won't be able to be reached via call/text. I never sent a PM on the SSHQ system b/c when i checked to see recent activity and the fact that there wasn't any, I thought that would be the least effective way to reach you.

I understand that you have other obligations, but having paid a good amount of $ for the work/items, I have to have some expectations, and I think I have been pretty lenient as far as deadlines and the projects priority in your schedule. Just expect a little nervousness from my side whenever i don't hear anything from you since April 21st, when the status quo had been texts/calls every few days, sometimes even multiple times a day to discuss progress and details and answer each other questions regarding customs.

And the post here was a last resort, I never intended it to be libelous or anything, I just wanted some help in contacting you. I posted it at around 5:30am my time this morning, before you responded at around 9am. I will ask Aferg to remove this thread now that I have established contact again and I don't want this to be seen in a negative light for anyone.

Just keep me up to date dude, I gotta know how my tanks are doing!

all the road wheels are black on the DAK Tiger, DAK Pz IV and DAK Pz III
all have been hit with filters and dullcote
the tiger needs the right hand track finished and its done.

The king tiger i didn't get to today

the DAK Turret that needs paint matched for repainting is TBD, but the styrene is in place

The Russian Matilda needs to be spiced up, maybe with a new whitewash theory i have seen

the other stuff is in a large shipping box with space at top (hopefully or a I buy new box) to place these customs in and ship
