The first link in the Custom & Mods forum is all about Tips and Tricks. Some good stuff in there. For decals on aircraft I alway use Future Floor polish for the gloss coat. Although now you have to look for Pledge with Future Shine (same thing).
If you haven't seen TKO's thread on the vinyl masking technique - it's sweet.

Weathering!! What would you prefer, like wash or drybrush?
Painting decals!! Do you mean apply the coat on top of the decal or painting letters or numbers?
