Tamiya is easier to airbrush than Val. IMO..but need to be thinned right to do a good job.
Val is great for brush work on figures, but I found it takes alot of thinner or water(distilled) to work in a airbrush..So I go back to Tamiya...but Vallejo has the better range of colors..esp for WWII era stuff.
On a sep note: I have not tried Vallejo model AIR paints, which is a seperate line from their normal acrylics.
either company's paint does well with masking tape and doesn't lift when cured.

btw I use Isopropyl as a thinner for Tamiya paints in my brush, and I used to use Vallejo color thinner with their paint after I found alcohol did not give the best performace with Vallejo(causes clumping).. now I found just common Tamiya thinner which does fine with Vallejo for figures and brushing.Panzer_M wrote:Tamiya is easier to airbrush than Val. As for colors..and shades..well you have alot of open choices, as well as the pattern of the camo themselves.
FOR the base: Dunkelgelb..lightened with flat white
then for the camo. Olivgrun or Darkgreen(Depending on the kit it seems) and red brown are the colors..most brands are fair close with red brown, but the greens and esp the dark yellows..tend to vary from maker to maker it seems out of the bottle...and you might want to adjust the color yourself.

now if this is a ramble, trying to do several things at once.
Cabe, can also go into the details of thinning and his choices.

Tamiya Color Acrylic paint used for german tri color camo basics: xf-60 dark yellow,xf-64 red brown,xf-61 dark green.others to use are many but xf-2 flat white works well mixed with your base color to lighten it or fade it,xf-9 hull red is a good primer and xf-63 german grey is great for scapes, thin with cheap rubbing alcohol from walmart to spray the above, mix your paint well, stir it and shake it,Vallejo is also great, thin it with distilled water, tap water has chems & minerals in it which will make a difference when bush painting,I use it for figures after priming them with Tamiya first, all airbrushes are good, just learn the one you have.
