Popsicle sticks have always worked for me.aferguson wrote:my russians need to ferry some equipment across the Dneiper. Any ideas on making a quick and simple raft that will float?
Little glue and couple layers later - TA DA -raft.
They float too, but just use something stronger than elmer's glue, or the whole thing falls apart in the water...

Use the little ballons that you can make animals and such with. Just find some that are black. Then add air until it looks about the right size. Attach some sort of bottom to the rounded ballon and you should have a very cheap looking raft that the Soviets would have given their comrades.

Is that you John Wayne, this is me!!

What kind of raft ? Tou can get some small soup or orange juice cans tie them together insant raft. Kina like some oil drums tied together. Or go to a craft store and get some of that green flower styofoam. It is real easy to cut and you can shape it with your fingers and it takes acrylic paint. But you need to do several coats.
i need a log raft.
I found some wooden spoons at a dollar store that have round handles which i think will be perfect for logs. Just saw off the handles and glue them together; i'll probably use epoxy for glue so it won't disolve in the water. I'll paint if up and should be good to go.

You can find wood dowels at Michaels or Joanne Fabrics or other craft stores. Probably cheaper than a basket full of dollar store spoons.
