Sci-Fi Custom

This is only loosely related to XD as it is more a sci-fi custom, but seeing as this is my forum of choice I am posting here.

Looking over Fritzkrieg's work on the JediDefender board I have chosen to shamelessly rip off some of his ideas because they are so damn cool. Fritzkrieg, hopefully you don't mind.

Shown below are a mech made from the GI Joe Six Sigma line modified to take a figure, a Lanard Corps tank I modified and six Lanard Corps figures I used as a base. I call them my "Urban Assualt Orbital Drop Troops." This mixed unit has infantry from the planet New Sparta while the armor and mech attachment come courtesy of Germania.

WOW!
Excellent job!
It's good to know Bond is on the job. (see last pic)

I really like the paint job on the figs and the go well with the the Mech.
(where is the Mech from? Did you paint it also?)

The space suits would work really good if you were doing an Armegeddon dio.

Thanks for sharing with us!

Very cool stuff. I like the Camo paint aps, It reminds me of an Urban Flecktarn.

Where did you get the space helmets from?

Nice job.

Thanks guys. I am pretty new to customizing so it is good to hear the praise.

Razor, the mech is a GI Joe Six Sigma piece that came in OD green. I had to disassemble and paint the entire thing.

Fritzkrieg, I was drawing a complet blank on the helmets and was driving myself nuts. I finally combed through Michaels and found the perfect space helmet material: fake grapes! The hole where they attach to the stem is a perfect fit for an air-line.

They are varying degrees of clarity and many of them have bubbles and other production flaws in them so it took almost the entire bunch to get six good ones. The other downside is whatever they are made of, no paint I have will completely dry on them.

I am not to hip on Sci Fi figs and stuff but you paint jobs look real good. Did you try dipping the "grapes" in Future floor wax?

Thats a negative on the future wax. Will that help with paint adhesion or just clarity?
