Unfortunately, there's no search function that I've found. From what I recall the mauve scheme was determined to most likely be very heavy weathered due to the poor paint quality used for the conditions it was subjected to.

Thanks. Actually I've had plans for a Rufe and Hamp since 94 when 21st announced it's Zero, which obviously never came to fruition. The Zero is my all time favorite and I ran a poll in 04 about who would we rather see make the Zero, 21st or BBi...21st lead the poll which goes to show how much they listen(ed) to fans.

I'll just be glad to get one, the balsa 1/18 Zero I built just isn't the same. I've got great plans for a Hamp and Rufe modification...for starters

The above shows what a procrastinator I am. I guess I mainly just kept putting off customizing in yet another scale. Plus the Zeros were hard to get and often expensive. With BBi's re-release of the 1st green version and with landing a squadron of them at a great price I decided it was time. I'm still going to do a true A6M3 Hamp as well.

As far as the Aleutians paint scheme, it makes sense to me that it likely did exist. The water in that area is very brackish, especially in the inlets and tributaries etc. A purplish-brown color in fact at certain times of the year.

. Yeah I've been putting off the Rufe because I have a ton of projects in the works pretty much all the time, pretty much in 1/32 & 1/24 though. Got a few in 1/48 & 1/72 as well but not in too much hurry to finish those. I got the bug when I started on my P-36 kit I got from PH, now it's stalled coz mainly I still can't decide what scheme to do.

That float is looking great, I can't wait for a pic of this baby in the water! I really wish I could do well with styrene OR wood, at least one... My Horten would be A LOT prettier right now, and not falling apart...

It looks like I need to put my order in for a set of these. This looking good. This has been on the " to do" list for years . I am glad someone else is doing it.

OMG!!!! How did I miss this post!!! VMF214 this is some KICK-ASS work brother---I mean it!!!The work on the cart and float is great---I cant wait to see it when your done!!!As for the paint job---I would like to see something like the paint job on 1 of the green 21stC 1/32 planes!!! The one Im talking about is the one with the green paint job and has alot of weathering on it!!! But that just me ---I sure that whatever paint job you go with it will be KICK-ASS!!!Again Nice work brother!!!---RED---
