Small Scale Military Headquarters

This model is one piece we DEFINATELY need in 1 18th and I refuse to wait There was the idea concept in the background on the pictures of the Dragon wagon. But here is the first picture of the model in production.



With this idea, I hope to build a fair version of the SDkfz 7
Also not pictured but also in production is something for the Famo to pull. I will put it in later pictures of the SD as production continues

So this is my next quest in armour for XD

I forgot to mention, and believe me, there is still LOTS to do to this project. I will be covering the rear wheel well as well as covering the holes in the front hood where a square of side venting is missing. Right now I am measuring to cut the underframe to add to the hanomag track section to go between the tracks and the underframe of the Indy staff cars. So far this project has taken (2) Indy staff cars, one Hanomag and one Indy cargo truck to build this endevor Stay tuned, there's more to come Da General

I have been trying to get troop cars for this same project for a month!! If you built it to pull a 1/18 V-2 then this will very weird!

Sdkfz 7 is not known as the "FAMO"
It is the Sdkfz 9 Famo, Sdkfz 7 was built by Krauss-Maffei.

Unless you're not going for accuracy the Sdkfz 11 would be a better fit for your mod as it has the same wheels, tires, tracks and running gear in general as the Sdkfz 251 parts you are using.

cool idea, Blasto. As stated above it will be underscale for an sdkfz 7....by about 10%. So basically it will be a 1/20 scale sdkfz 7, or you can make it an sdkfz 11, which was used in huge numbers during the war from start to finish and was used to pull things much heavier than it was intended to do. The sdkfz 11 was built on the same running gear as the 251.

Why didn't you use the engine hood from the troop car? It must be as big as the one from the truck, isn't it? I may have to do this myself...that looks quite good.

Wow, there was so many different models of the same thing I saw a different build that someone sent me the link way long time ago. They called it a "Famo". It looks much like a "7" model and I wanted to get as close as possible to it The reason I used the transport truck front end and hood was because of the shape - more "boxy" than the staff car. It also has the side louvers on it as well as the shape of the fenders and hood. I dunno, I wanted one of these to pull a cannon other than the Pk40. Such as the 88 if we ever get it Well, time to get back to it, maybe I'll have a few more pictures later Da General

Remember you don't have to go for total accuracy if you don't feel like it. I think it looks fabulous given that you are using pretty toy-like IJ vehicles as the base. I look forward to seeing this completed.

well as i said the sdkfz 11 towed much heavier things than it was designed to do, on a regular basis. It towed the pak 43, which was a huge 88mm anti tank gun on the same carriage the 150mm howitzer was on.

I agree, that it looks great. I may make one myself and cheat and try to squeeze a home made 37mm aa gun on it....but i don't think it'll fit. I may cheat the other way and put a 2 cm aa gun on it, like the sdkfz 10 had.

Here's another option, the sdkfz 6. Over 3000 produced. It was the same width as the 251/11 and only a bit longer. Used throughout the war though production stopped in '43.

Awsome blasto I like how you took different parts from the Indiana Jones line and fused them with 21st centurys. Cant wait to see it when its done

Not much to report this morning, due to lack of materials last night(styrene). But an item to note, the track has now been joined to the car body and underframe under the engine attached as well as the front axle affixed to the underframe.

It's good information smitty, not anal... keeping up with all the vehicle types and subtypes that the Germany army fielded, never mind their capabilities, can be a real challenge sometimes. Blasto's build is off to a good start, I think it's looking pretty good regardless of what it will eventually represent.

A busy holiday weekend, but I still managed to get a little more progress done I got the sides cut and mounted. I also did a few more custom figures too
