Hey Guys,
With the P-36 multi fabrication going on. I will have a lot of P-40 B fusalages left over. So I was thinking of making them into P-40 Es. This would be what the Aluetain Tigers flew and a few others. Then the
N version. That would be the Flying Skulls of 80th flying Group based in India. What do you think?

Also what about P-51 B-C conversion kits? Turtle deck Malcom hood ? There was also a C versian that had a bubble hood like the D but did not have the ventral rudder fairing.
Cool or who cares?

A P-40 N would be freakin awesome. That's always been one of my "wouldn't it be cool" conversion ideas. Plus the flying skull livery just seems to go hand in hand with the N model (much like the popular shark mouth).

I am waiting for more resin to come in so I put a little time into making a P-40 E . Here are some shots of the modified cowling. I need to make the top air scoop and intake splitters on the chin scoop.

I think that this will be an easy custom. All I have to do now is panel lines convert rear glass and shield and add a little to the rudder. So far only 10 hrs worth of work.

You betcha.
That is the whole idea. To put those extra fusalages to work.
I can think of a couple of neat paints for the "N "The Skulls and what about the Red Parrots? Also the White Tails of New Guinea. That looks so cool . The Red Parrots will go good with the Green Parrot nosed B-25 that will come out hopefully in the next 10 years

I will make these in a modular form. The nose is about the same ecept for the air vents right behind the spinner. The exausts are different pipes to fish tails the rear deck is the main difference. I will make a little module . Cut out the old and pop in the new.
How about a "K" as well? "E" rear glass fishtail exaust and rudder fairing. That Jinx with the Sabre Tooth Tiger and the Lt grey paint is another must have.

I do , do armor. As a matter of fact I prefer armor a wee bit over planes. I am just on a roll baby.

This is a fast project like I hoped it would be. So far only 21 1/2 hrs. I have been keeping track. Almost like a time card.
All I have to do is panel lines some more sanding and a few nick -nacks and then it is time to vacuform.
I think that my Mattel could be a little small. I may have to make a bigger one. I was thinking of making it out of a waffle iron of all things. It comes in 2 parts that swing open it has a heating element and is already wired.

Here are some pics.

I have a disassembled P-51D that will be waiting to see if you decide to make that P-51B/C conversion. :)

Just out of curiosity... have you considered doing any modifications for the Bf-109G-6?
Thanks.

No not really on the 109. I don't think that it is that much of a difference. Or am I way off base. The P-40 B limits the paint schemes. So by doing the E and N opens a whole lot of paints.

By the way guys thanks for all of the kind remarks.

Work has been real tough for the last 2 weeks. But I think that I will get a chance to get back on this project next week. I am thinking of doing a custom kit on this as well. I could make the fusalage using a 21st P-40 or just do the nose and vacuform glass. What do you guys think ? Anybody interested?

picklehaube, what about a p40f,the merlin powered variant, you are almost there, especiaaly with the rear canopy insert you have already made.this canopy would probably be easier to make than the one youhave done already, also the super corsair is another project you could consider as you are becoming quite the accomplished customizer.plus you are one of the few individuals willing to share all your hard work. yes i am interested in your kits. regards&later scudruner

The F's cowling is a lot flater top and bottom. It also does not have the scoop on top. So I would have to make another full cowling. The N has the same cowling as the E but as you probably know the glass is all different with the large rear sloping deck in back. One of the popular F's I think is the Texas Longhorn . That would be worth making another cowling for that version alone.

This is a cool one to. But they only made 2 of them. It also would be a MAJOR CUSTOM. The only thing that looks like the P-40 on the Q is the wing.
