Those are really beautiful. One thing I don't understand though is why they leave the bases on the figures. It kinda ruins the effect.

Yes these are great looking dio's. I am working on one at the moment using K&C British SAS figures.

I don't collect K&C figures (too pricey for my budget) but aren't the bases permanently attached on them..?? If not, the figures are probaly difficult to keep standing without them, making the bases somewhat of a necessity.

Well if they're soft white metal the bases can be sawed off without too much trouble. You just have to be careful not to ruin the boots. I've done that with other figures. Then you can just drill a hole in the bottom of the foot and mount them with a small nail or piece of rod.
