I think this is the gun that's called the PPsh
I've always heard it called a Burp gun.

Ok, here's the quick way to make one that's close to it.

First off, you need a German Beretta MG and one of the Gas mask containers from off of the sack that comes with almost any 21st C German soldier.



First step is to cut the clip off of the MG, then cut about 3/16" off of the opening end of the gas mask container.



Next you need to file a slot on the bottom side of the MG right where the clip was. Carefully make the depth to the bottom of the gun barrel.



After this make sure it is square and sand or file the piece of the gas mask container on the end you cut until it is a tight fit into the slot.



Before you glue the magazine drum you made into the gun, be sure the bump of the former catch is on the left side of the gun next to the barrel as you look down the barrel from the stock end. This picture is taken looking down from the barrel end.



Also, the cut end of the drum(that you sanded/filed down) will face the shooter's shoulder. Make sure the drum looks square and straight, then glue in with a drop of CA adhesive.





After the CA dries, I colored the drum black with a fine point Sharpie pen.

And that does it, you now have Russian "Burp" sub MG

but what if we want a Ppsh 43?

the Ppsh 41 also had a stick mag beside the 70rd drum...although I;ve seen of a few pics of wartime use of the 30rd mag.

what if you don't have any Berettas to spare, is my problem.

For the most part you can use a rifle, it's the front part that's the problem:

That is good in a pinch, although the vent holes along the barrel aren't quite right.

I remember playing the BattleGroup mod for Battlefield 1942 a few years back, and loving the room-clearing power of that gun. And the distinct sound it made...sweet.

one of the new gi joes is coming with a ppsh and i suspect marauder will make one...but i need like 20 of them and soon. No time to wait for marauder, my T-34 needs some tank riders, so i think i will use cut down rifles until a better option becomes available.

For the barrel, why not use a section of the other German MG, Not the MG-42, but the MG-34 Or did I get those the wrong way ??? Well anyway, one of them has the barrel with the holes in it. Use that part before the muzzle end, how about that ??? Da General

yes i thought of the mg 42 but it's too thick and in short supply at any rate. I'm just going to use modified rifles until a better ppsh alternative becomes available.

Yeah, that hollowed-out look would be hard to replicate at small scales. If one was to go to the effort of replicating the barrel inside the vent portion, you may as well churn out a whole mess of them to sell to other collectors.

And since I collect 1:32 I can't see myself trying to replicate it at that small a scale. If I could do that I'd be scratch-building everything rather than buy it.
