I was in same delimma, then I thought heck why not go buy some realistic 1:18th scale Dragon wermacht figures to work from. So I did. Tamiya also sells pre-painted individual soldiers for $5 a piece.
What camo are you looking for specifically
What division and what season?

when I was trying to paint my German long coat, I found a few sites. Not much but....

I don't know if you play the combat mission games. But they have mod library online. You can get some great blueprints for painting tanks of all sides there. Just register you name and email so you can get in, do a search for the nation, type and name of what you are looking for. and a bunch of player made mode will come up.
Just o you know when it saw "Search CMAK" that's "Combat mission Afrika Korps" an expansion of the original combat mission game. That section will have DAK, Crete and Italian colors/camo units. No Russian units though, all the eastern front styles and ubits ar ein the CMBB section "Combat Mission Barbarossa to Berlin"
when you do the search, click on one of th entry/links that comes up and it will take you to a preview of what the mod looks like in game. Then is you download it, you get a tank broken down into sections fully painted weathered ect to work from. Lot of really good models in the from some dedicated players.

I know you probably don't want to buy a book, but if you ever had a mind to, this is the one I would suggest: "The Eastern Front: Armour, Camouflage, and Markings, 1941-1945" By Zaloga, I have this in my library and would highly recommend it, although it's out of print and getting kind of pricey now. http://search.barnesandnoble.com/used/p ... 1854092137
For websites, their are many that will show you some examples, but I'm not aware of a really comprehensive site for just East Front camo. This site has some good color schemes for East Front Tigers... http://www.alanhamby.com/tiger.html This site has real color photos of actual German vehicles in combat, many on the Eastern Front.. http://www.ww2incolor.com/german-armor/ You could spend hours (or even days) searching the net to track down a particular camo scheme, so in the long run a book might be an alternative worth considering. Good luck, and hope this helps. 8)
