Anybody ever seen one of these up close..?? TRU has it on sale, and it looks freakin HUGE... I think it could work OK for either 1:32 or 1:18...it would probably need some painting and weathering, but that should be relatively simple to do.

TRU has those at $129.99 in the stores most of the time -
Target just unloaded their stock - I found it for 74 bucks and some members found it over %75 off..

And yes it is huge - I love it

I too have wondered about the set up size and perhaps getting it to model a German garrison. Does anyone have it and can we see a picture of a 1 18th figure like next to the main gate ??? Thanks, Da General

I am a big medieval history buff and started collecting the Schleich figures some time ago.

I have two of the castle sets and almost all the accessories plus a pretty good compliment of the various soldiers, yeoman archers, plus both mounted and unmounted knights.

All of the Schleich standing figures are all about 3.5 inches tall, which might make them more in the range of 1/19 or 1/20 scale. The big difference is that they are proportioned a bit broader or thicker bodied than the XD figures are. Their heads, limbs, hands, feet are large compared to the more anatomically correct XD figures, so it is really hard to even get a sense of the true scale.

They are all packed away right now, but below are some pictures taken when I had them set up with the staged figures all around. The castles probably would work OK but be on the smallesh side of the 1/18th stuff but it would be way to large for the 1/32nd.

I do have some of the medieval figures on display, so here are some of both the Schleich and the XD figures side by side. The knights are closer in height to the smaller XD figures that came with some of the early planes and tanks, but much shorter than the Artilleryman that came with the Pak 40.

I hope this helps.

Cheers

i have a bunch of the schleich and bbi knights too and find they work well with the xd figures for the most part. Anyone whose been to a museum and seen suits of armour knows that by and large the people were smaller back then (although this has been disputed by some scholars recently, for some strange reason). They may be a little small but they don't stand out as noticably small so unless you look and compare hard you won't notice it.

The last comparison shot shows the knights compared to a typical xd giant that came with the pak. He's almost 6'3", without his base.

Nice pics btw. :)
