FOV 1/18 Tiger 1 modification

Half way there, new trunnions, nasty shovel on bow removed, MG rail, new jack handle and detail, all hatch handles replaced, armored cable for headlight, and spare track mounts on turret.

Still to finish is: mount the periscopes, antenna, side tow cable, spare antenna tube, screens on the engine deck, add the extra road wheels, paint, weather, and add number 131 of Walter Hahn, 1st company of the 101st SS Panzer division, Normandy 1944

Still adding details, so I thought I would show the progress to the rear deck, turret, and front hull.
First two shots show the added detail for the removed Feifel air filter system, including the hose retainers and hose clamps on the exchange tubes. Also added a hinge that was missing on the escape hatch and detailed the loaders hatch.

Next two pics show the front of the turret and hull with the added coax MG, binocular gun sight, ball MG scope sight, scratch built handle and clasp for the jack block, armor cable for the headlight, and added the periscopes in the last picture. Of note is the removed running gear from the donor FOV Tiger off to the left. Wheels are next.

Great job.
When you're finished, will you put it in the Target in Houston---it'll be the only FOV Tiger I'll ever see in the store.

I really like how this Tiger is turning up. The 1/16 pieces you used are not noticeable at all, and they actually looked great on your tank!

Getting to the wheels was easy.
Getting them off was not.
I had assumed from all the screws in the construction that the wheels were also mounted that way, but when I got down to it, they are mounted with “child proof” rivets glued into the wheel….so to get them out I had to dremel the suspension arm right off, and then clamp the head of the rivet in my vise and pull, twist, pull, and PULL it out. Not easy.
BUT good news is the inside wheel (the rivet side) is perfect as it has a hollow end just like the outer Tiger 1 road wheels on the real beast. (The wheels were attached with a pipe had a hollow end, and within it there was an oil-filling tap. )
All I had to do then was saw off the other wheel, glue a bit of wire into the hole, drill a corresponding hole into the attachment wheel and glue the puppy on.
Solid as a rock and the tracks still roll just as well.
Sooooooo left to do...finish up some detail add the antenna, and paint and weather…in the home stretch.

Yoxford, everyone else has already said it, but you're doing amazing work with that Tiger!
What will the camo look like? I've looked for pics of 132 and I haven't found anything yet.

I goofed the number though it is Tiger 131 that was in the charge of Walter Hahn, not 132...
