Custom Building Updated 4-23

Post by Gusthebus » Tue Nov 27, 2007 1:29 pm

I used 21st prototype "Government Building" as a guild and made the following. I didn't try and copy it exactly just used it as inspiration.

This is my first attempt at posting a picture so I hope it comes through.

That is really good work. :P

Good job. :D

What materials did you use?

Is it 1/18th?

Kevin.

Here's my copy of the farm house.

Here are some newer pictures with the finishing touches on it. It is as close to 1/18 scale as I, a first time builder, could get. It is made of all wood. I used a dremel to carve out the bricks and details. Thanks for the kind words.

WOW! What a good looking building!

I have a question in general for the makers of the orginal buildings (21stC) why isn't there any stairs (damaged or intact) in any of their 2 floor buildings? Did most people of WWII era Europe "hop" upstairs?

Good question Razor. The Normandy Farmhouse did include a ladder thing that could be used as a way to get to the second floor. I made a part of the roof (not in photos) that looks like debris that I use as a ladder.

Here is my idea for my next project. I have it about 50% done right now. And I do have a stairs in this one!

Gusthebus,
Are you making the whole city block or just one of the buidings (which one)??

I would be interested in seeing your pics of this new buiding (final and constructions photos).

I'm constructing three buildings that share the common walls in between them. I'm making a bakery, bank and cafe. The first floor is the business with the second and third floor (attic) for living. I have all the walls, doors and windows finished but I haven't done the floors, roof or painted it yet. I'll post some pics in the next few days of the progress.

That is some mighty fine work! Nice dremel work on the bricks and stone work. How big is the unit overall?
I had thought of copying their original house design myself sometime, but don't think I could have done as well!
Nice!

Thanks for all the compliments guys. The building is just under 18 inches tall and 14 inches wide.

Gus - YOU OWN, MAN! great work. Now you have me imagining the possibilities, including a concrete aircraft shelter for my F-16. Anyhow, I like the mixed use of materials you've employed and the dremel work. Dremels - can't say enough good things about them!

Here is my new project. It is three buildings (Bakery- Blue, Hotel- Red, and a Cafe- Yellow). They all share a common wall in between them but in the pictures they are separate. It is based off the town of Rouen in France. I still have a lot of little things to do and of course finish the roof. Right now I'm making the shop signs.
