Kamikaze, I have a question. I'm thinking of building:
Thats the quad tractor, limber and 25 pound gun.
So if you were to judge this if I were to build it. Would you judge just the actual artillary piece (the 25 gun) or would you base your judgement on the overall three piece set?

xd
I've also thought about doing this too...

HEY! A V1 didnt even occur to me (mmmmmm) no, no, must stay with my quad. I'm thinking of buying the tamiya 1/35 quad tractor and basing my model/measurements off that. Being Tamiya i'd say the scale/proportions should be close to dead on.
pickelhaube, keep us updated if your going ahead with the doodlebug. It's always been a favourite of mine and have thought to myself of building one, so would love to see someone build one .

I think that I will do this one (V-1). But believe it or not I am having a real hard time getting scale line drawing of this buzz bomb. I have the Tamiya model and it does not measure up . I have a book with scale drawings and when you scale them up the measurements don't add up as well. I am perplexed. I guess I need to get a average of both and move on. The design stage is always a humdinger. Sometimes it just don't work.

KAMIKAZE, I am in full planning/operation on this contest! I have some progress made with research and details in hand as well as platform/paint schema. Now I am working on gathering the rest of the material. I want to post some progress/photos but that would take some salvo surprise out of it and give someone else an edge!
I plan on documenting the entire process for prosperity as well.

Wasn't there a number of different variants - or at least models built at different factories - not to mention those built/copied by the allied side after the war.pickelhaube wrote:I have the Tamiya model and it does not measure up . I started to do research for a build and came across a range of overall measurements (all within a few inches, but different nonetheless ).

There were a few wartime variants. Noticably the versions with flying controls. The other main differences were in the warhead. With so many bombings from the allies the production was done in sub assembles scatterd throughout Germany. When they were put together the paint usually did not match. So each one was kind of different.Jay wrote:Wasn't there a number of different variants - or at least models built at different factories - not to mention those built/copied by the allied side after the war.pickelhaube wrote:I have the Tamiya model and it does not measure up . Not a fat chance Jay! I am in the contest to WIN!! All kidding aside, I am past the research phase and have gathered all photos, references, historical battles on my entry. I am 3/4 done with the planning phase. 1/2 done with the material gathering phase and just last week started the building/deconstruction phase of my project. So far along the way I have about 10 pics done so far of the construction pieces. I am having to scratchbuild some components and will post the end product as well as the process. The first salvo should be ready mid-May. I have a 2nd entry that I would like to start by that time.Jay wrote:How are you guys going on your projects?
