Civil TBM Avenger pictures

Post by Sabrefan » Tue Apr 24, 2007 3:51 pm

I picked up a rather beat up Avenger model from a friend of mine. His kids kind of did a number on it, but I got it back together. I was thiking of doing some modifications on it to make it looks like a civil tanker Avenger. Anyone know where I can find some good pictures of these? I have found some that show the canopy modifications with the rear turrent removed. Any help would be great. Thanks. :D

My searches haven't turned up much as far as reference material. There was an issue of the Smithsonian Air & Space magazine from a few years ago that had an article about Canadian TBM Avenger firebombers with some very nice, clear pictures. Sorry, but I don't remember the month, year, or issue number :? Nonetheless, here's a few pics that I was able to find of the civilian Avengers; luckily including the same plane (#13) seen from the right and left sides. It looks like they have heavily modified the rear of the canopy, removed the turret, and modified the ventral gun position. Hope these are helpful :D
