M7 Priest updated 12/26/06

Post by mediump » Mon Oct 09, 2006 7:49 pm

I'm working on an M7 priest Howitzer Motor Carriage. This is the first real 1:18 custom for me so I don't expect it to be perfect, so far its come together pretty well. I'm using a bbi Sherman with a gi joe howitzer (that I will modify) and hopefully it will be an impressive pile of cheap plastic!

Thanks RED! I got the gi joe gun on ebay for $2.50 + $2 ship, just the gun part, these things must be rare ,it need modifications like a longer barrel, but I'll pull it off. how's your LVT coming?

Scopeuk Thanks! I think the interior will be tricky, I don't plan on getting too detailed, but i think i'll pull that off too
Thanks you guys and thanks to other boardmembers for advice

Wow, thanks ,you guys are great. normandy thanks for your advice, zap a gap works great and .080 was almost perfect. progress has slowed a little ( I cut my thumb real good whittlin' on plastic) and its down to mounting the gun and small stuff. I'll keep y'all posted as it goes together. :)

Mediump,
Wow mate that is amazing so far & looks pretty on the nose for a Priest to me.
Once I`m back on properly I`d love to see you do (If you would be kind enough) a HOW TO too.

Again Very Impressed with what I see here.

I'll be buggered phil. You put your pots and pans to work well on this custom. I bet its a bit of Barney putting it all in place, but it's a one of a kind. When is your brother going to pop out custom? I'm definitely inspired by your war efforts. Hey ,I was at the marine base today down here in San Clemente. Took some flics next to a couple of Russian T-56 tanks and a BMP. I'll snipe em to you guys. From HIDEOUS.

here's the cannon, you can see from the WIP pics that I had to cut down the gi joe piece quite a bit. barrel is brass, and the base and cannon are held together with a tiny screw at the bottom which allows it to move up and down. I still haven't quite figured out how I'm going to mount it yet --any suggestions?

For your first real custom job in 1/18 scale, your doing an excellent job! Well crafted and designed -looking forward to more pictures! Course, I'd probablly make a Sextant, with a 25 pounder, instead. Great subject and one of my favourites.

Now, where is that 1/18 AV8-B Harrier!

Awww WOW She`s truely a beauty.

You know just had a Memory fart. The M7 Priest was actually my VERY FIRST Model Kit (1/72 scale) when i was a wee boy.

I may have to take a leaf out of your book & try my hand at this maybe next year sometime.Unless of course you plan on selling copies of your`s??? ;) LOL
