Custom Battle of the Bulge figure!!!!

Post by RED » Mon Oct 02, 2006 12:18 am

Hey yall---What we got here is a custom made BoB fig!!!!All it really is---is some left over parts put together to make a fig and a BoB overcoat!!!!! The legs are from a OMG fig because most of the 101st---not all--but most of--- had on their M-43 jump suits when they got the call to stop the krauts in some town called Bastogne!!!! The chest is from the jump ready German paratrooper and the head is from STG.(Digger)McHugh,USMC S1!!!!!!I had wraped the boots with some burlap(just like the G.I.s did to keep their feet warm)and painted it with 2 different gloss browns---to give it a cold, frozen, muddy look!!!!Then put on the overcoat and hit it in a few places with a gloss brown for a muddy look too!!!!Steel pot--M-1 and now your ready to hold the line!!!! :D I mostly do PTO customs but I thought the STG.McHugh S1 head would make for a real good BoB custom---he's just got that look of the everyday mad,P-O.d, sick and tired grunt you see in all the pics from the PTO to the ETO!!!!!I hope yall like him and if yall dont---let me know what I could do different!!!! :D ---RED---Image---[/img]Image

RED,
WOW mate he looks spot on & one tough soldier.

The work done to him is superb & you undersell yoursell with your quick & simple approach to How you did it mate. Certainly adds a lot to the figure.

I for one Hope this is the first of many ETO we`ll be seeing from you in the future. Though we`ll let you keep PTO as your main goal ;)

Red,
You capture the look and feel of the Bulge soldier.
There is movie; "BATTLEGROUND" with Van Johnson as one of the leads. Your figure looks like the guy played by George Murphy they call in the movie "Pops". (Soldier pointing in pic below):

Red,
Do you ever sell your customs on Ebay or anything??
I really like what you do.

How is the LST coming?

Hey yall---Thank yall very much!!!!!!I'm glad yall like my custom!!!!STEELBONNET---Thank you for your comment!!!! :D I dont mean to undersell myself in telling how I make my customs---I just want the customs to speak for themselves!!!! :D I just try to make it as easy as I can for anyone who might want to try to make the custom themselves!!!! :D I guess its just being humble!!! :D And I dont know---I just might make a few more ETO customs---thisn' seems to be well liked!!!! :D RAZOR---You are right on the money---I watched BATTLEGROUND a few days ago and I thought that "POPS" looked alot like STG.McHugh!!!!The movie is what gave me the ideal to make the custom!!!!Thank you---Im glad you like my customs but ---sorry I have never sold anything on E-bay---as a matter of fact--I have never sold or traded any of my customs!!!!So maybe one day!!!! :D The LST is comeing alone slowly---did I say slowly---I ment slooooowly!!!!!Its just a real time consuming custom and I just want to take my time on thisn'!!!! :D But I should have it done in a mouth or two!!!! :D Again thank yall for all the nice comments!!! :D ---RED---
