i'm going to try and make a 1/18 AAVP7A1

i found one of these on Ebay:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... %3AIT&rd=1

As it comes it's far too small but the width is about right for 1/18. The overall shape is good....especially the nose. I'm going to stretch it a few inches (probably need about 7 or so) with a scratchbuilt plastic box section added to the middle and i'll use some boogies/tracks from an old Corps! tank i have that look perfect for the AAVP and are about the right size for 1/18.

I'm going to cut off the fenders from the Warthog, modify the bottom and put the tracks under the vehicle...this should raise it up to about the right height for 1/18.

When all is said and done i think it will be a reasonable looking 1/18 AAVP7A1....detailing will be way off, so i'll add lots of stowage to cover the vehicle but the overall size and shape should be pretty good. Still need to figure out how to make the small commander's turret that is on the right hand side of the vehicle.

These Joe Warthogs can be found pretty inexpensively on Ebay so i figured it's worth a try... I'll paint it in dark green camo of course. :D
i never met an airplane i didn't like...

Awesome. I used to have one of those. It ended up heavily modified (due to breakage/wear and tear) before finally being retired.

Good luck! I'm interested in seeing how it turns out.
If at first you don't succeed, try, try again. Then quit. No use being a damn fool about it.

I had one those growing up. I don't think he has a digital camera to start a WIP post. Good luck with the project. We will all love to hear about how it turns out. :D

AAVP7A1

The front portion is a good start, and the thing is wide enough. The AAVP7A1 is the number one modern vehicle I would love to see. After the last round of modern vehicles (ugh) I don't think it will ever happen but man that would be sweet. And anything you could load up with troops is such a good way to sell...troops! But I'm not holding my breath. :?
Good luck on this one, it could get messy.
