SpecOps DPV Fully Kitted out with Driver.

Post by steelbonnet » Sat May 13, 2006 8:15 am

Hi All,

First off I`d like to thank you for all the kind words on the WIP of this & also a Big thank`s to Scope UK & Rob for the "bouncing ideas" on this too :D Cheer`s guys :D

Well here we have the completed DPV with it`s Driver.

DRIVER.
A Microman figure with a Chap mei head.
The T shirt is from Robopredator,
The Jacket is from Han Solo, the trousers & the drop Leg holster I made :D.
I also added a pair of Booted feet to the MM ankle balljoint.

He wears the US Flag on his Right Breast & on his Left arm is the Unit patch for "TASK FORCE OMEGA" I designed & printed the patch.

There are two more crewmen inc the Commander & they`ll be "Dropping in" soon ;) All 3 crew ARE Micromen with CLOTH clothing & Acc`s.

Also this explains why the DPV has only 1 Backpack stowed on it. The other two have yet to join up with the DPV.

Now the DPV.

Base vehicle was a PTE DPV. I added a BBI Roof to it which I also drilled the holes onto it.
The GPS unit on the roof is custom made & the platform it`s on is also BBI. I`ve made it so the platform can be lifted up to put the rear gunner in BUT at the same time looking Very realistic in appearance.

WEAPONS.
This DPV is armed with front Passenger MK 19 (BBI) with belt fed ammo.
Main Gun is a .50 Cal M2 (BBI) with Belt feed. Also 2 AT-4s (BBI).
Rear defence weapon is a Minigun (PTE customized) with again belt feed.

Comms, the vehicle has 2 radios stowed in the side cargo cage (passenger side),also the Laptop (rear compartment) is connected to the GPS & Radio unit for LIVE feed.

STOWED GEAR.
The DPV carries TWO Spare tyres. Also carries 3 rolled Sleeping bags Side cage (passenger side).Jerry can of Water (passenger side),rolled Tent & Supplies behind the passenger seat in bags.

On the front behind bumper are 3 spare Jerry cans of fuel.
On the bumper is also a Tow chain.

So there you have the Written Info NOW the photos (Hope you enjoy) :D

Well there you have it :D

I have to say I`m Mighty happy with how it has turned out. I`m eager to do the same to my other DPVs now....LOL Maybe a couple in camo schemes too :D

Anyway Again Thank You for ALL the kind words you`ve gave me throught the WIP thread & I truely DO hope you like the finished piece here as much as I do :D

Hey Steelbonnet,
That is one sweeeet ride! What a great loadout and all night ops black. That looks like a lot of work and well worth the time!

Awesome work and custom! DPV's rock!
It is the dang toy companies that have sometimes made me want to stop collecting toys!!!

Steelbonnet,
Damn fine work. I love the GPS/Satcomm antenna and have been wondering how I would make that part myself.
I had been working on the same project (two of them) before my current deployment and now I'm all excited to get back to it.
I was in a plumbing supply store once, in the Toilet parts isle, and I noticed the plastic chain that came with a Flapper (the door that opens in the bottom of the fill tank to let water down into the bowl). That plastic chain looks great on a 1:18 humvee or DPV. Just a thought.
Now, you are going to have to tell me where you got the belt ammo for your MK-19. I have got to get me some of that!

Thank`s very much Guys I`m really glad to hear you like how the DPV turned out :D

Markecho,
Cheer`s mate Really appreciate the kind words mate & it took just over a week to get it all sorted. The weapon feed belts were the biggest stumbling block.

ostketten,
Thank`s mate & I will indeed carry on & do my other 3 DPVs :D

Don,
Thank`s very Much Don :D The GPS/Satcom is :-Chap mei Wheel Hub & a Humbrel Paint lid ;) :D Worked a treat.
Damn bad timing mate though something to look forward to when back home eh :D
As for the MK19 ammo belt, well check my other thread I have here in the customs section on my WIP on the DPV viewtopic.php?t=4489

That will answer your questions mate :D

Again Thank You very much for the Very kind words,I do truely appreicate them.

Jason,

The end result is amazing! I especially like the 2 sea-bags that you made and I noticed (correct me if I'm wrong) that you have the Fog lights wrapped over with '100 mile an hour tape' ..thats rad. Well, looks like that buggy is ready for a 'Forward Air Control' type operation. Drive em in, paint the target, and I'll bring in my air support! haha!! In the unlikely event you are compromised, I don't think they'll stand much of a chance facing the minigun! Do you have two of these in your motorpool or just this one? They go great in pairs you know!
