New Armor repaints, some minor tweaks

Post by GooglyDoogly » Wed Apr 26, 2006 12:18 pm

Hi I made slight tweaks on a few of my XD stuff.

This is a combo of a 21st and BBI Sherman, so I could make a M4A3 75mm Sherman.

The only major mod I did on the Panzer IV is I added a brass barrel. The original gun barrel was a tad short, when compared to pics and diagrams.

The BBI Abrams. The only thing I tweaked was I opened up the gunner's sight housing's doors, moved the extra roadwheel in the proper place so it doesn't look like it's just freefloating on top of the turret, and I turned the smoke dischargers at an angle. I haven't decided on the markings yet, but decided to do a Gulf War Abrams. You really can't do an OIF Abrams with the BBI model without some major and extensive surgery.

Very Nice mate.

Love the reworks & repainting. You`ve done a Great job on all 3 tanks.

I`ve yet to get any Sherman`s though your actual mixing BBI & XD together is really interesting :D

Got to say i`m impressed with the armour you have shown us today mate :D

Where did you get your brass barrel at, and how long is it supposed to be? That would be an excellent project for my non-rc panzer with the rc panzer replacement barrel.

Hi, I don't know what the brass "barrel" product is called, but I saw it while browsing through the RC section of my Hobbytown. It's an RC part.
I thought it might fit, so I took the Panzer IV muzzle break and gun mantlet with me and lo and behold, it fits!

The original gun length looks just a bit tad small to me, like a Panzer IV G.
Here's a good diagram of an Ausf. H gun.

Oh! Then I'm fine with the Ausf G barrel for my DAK rc panzer. Cool. So I'll only need to update the non-rc Ausf H. Thanks for the info. :D
