F-16 Radome removal

Post by wolf8564 » Thu Oct 18, 2012 6:53 pm

I was just thinking about putting a radar under the radome? and wanted to know just how hard it is and what is the best way to remove it?

Hard. Personally, I don't think it's worth it. I used a candle and exacto knife. Takes a while. You could get it off quicker but you would lose lots of material. Don't do it.

I was afraid of Thats. O.K. trash radome idea Thanks for the Input. I think Mig 29 put on radar while ago and his was pretty decent as I remember but I am not going to cut up $179

Actually, that was the FA-18 Hornet...not the F-16. Mig29 did alot of customization, but I was the one who tackled the radome. Trust me...not for the weak hearted. The entire radome must be replaced (scratch built) because of the thickness of the plastic. Mine was vacuformed....several times. She's packed away right now to make room for other projects.
