My 1:32 DAK Panzer III

Post by Karl Dak » Sat Jun 30, 2012 6:43 pm

Hi All:

Thought I'd share a few images of my favorite tank among a 1:32 scale collection, the Afrikakorps Panzer III by Ultimate.

I started with a sepia shot of the turret and figure pictured with a printed backdrop:

Unfortunately, the image did not capture much of the tank, so I tried some outdoor photography this morning:

Antiquing the image, the same shot but in sepia:

And lastly, I thought I'd try photo-editing with a digitally added background picture. This one is my personal favorite:

While I've always been partial to Tiger tanks, the Ultimate Soldier/21st Century Panzer III is my favorite tank, mainly because of the N. Afrika/DAK color scheme, but equally nice is the diecast body and detailing - including the DAK palm emblem. Perhaps FOV will produce a DAK Panzer of comparable detail. Now I've got to break out some British armor for a larger scene. Comments welcome.

Very nice photos. I was always tempted to get the PZ III but I only collect 1/18 so I alway put it back.

Thanks fellas. That's funny - I had always been into 1:18 and now appreciate the 1:32 scale military. They don't take all the space as the 1:18th dioramas.

Here's an additional shot in color:

Thanks Zelda. While the real photographs outside are always fun, I like photo-editing with a close-up of the model/vehicle. It also gives me the ability to change backgrounds if I don't like the outcome.

I really like the B/W photos. It gives a sense of realism and age.

Like it! Looks like some of the original 21st box art or something!!!

Thanks - I'm going to have to look at some of that boxart. I got into Ultimate Soldier late in the game.
