O rings and silly putty are what I used. I think my problem was that the psi on the compressor was set to high.
The O rings sat on a small ball of putty just above the surface of the plane which should have given a soft edge.
Didn't happen

The test I did on cardboard looked fine.
I may try to soften the green edges with a lower setting and the base coat DAK yellow.

Hopefully with fingers crossed I will have better luck.
I tell you what, she looks good with the solid DAK color. That would look good next to BBI's DAK 109
