Great job Pizza,
Sign me up for a few sets of hornet nozzles. If you had time a more open set would be cool of the F-18 and F-14a.
Again great job!

Those look awesome dude, way beyond the crap that BBI put on there. I for one will be happy to add a set to my future Hornet. I also can't wait for the Tomcat engines to grace my bird.
Re: F-14 GE F110 & F18 F404 Exhaust Nozzel
Nathan, I will take a set of each nozzle type (F14 & F18). Stephen

Re: F-14 GE F110 & F18 F404 Exhaust Nozzel
I'm in for a set for the F-18 Hornet. My son was a plane captain on the F-18 deployed to the gulf on the Eisenhower and I want to do the bird up like his plane. The upgraded engines will look great.

Re: F-14 GE F110 & F18 F404 Exhaust Nozzel
I'm seeing some light at the end of the tunnel. We should be wrapping up things in the next couple weeks with any luck. Thanks for your patience. I've been slowly amassing the items when I get a day home, so I will have a good head start to getting items out pretty quick when I return. I have a growing list of what everyone is interested in and will be contacting everyone when I can get the items out. Thanks again -Nathan

Re: F-14 GE F110 & F18 F404 Exhaust Nozzel
Big_Mike,
The pics of the dismantled F18 were just to see how far I could go back in the fuselage and see if I could create a more realistic intake.
The process is fairly painless. Pop off the rubber bbi nozzel, saw off the plastic portion extending out past the fuselage and insert the new nozzel.

Something weird is going on. I'm getting emails that say I have a new message, but when I go to the messages there are no new messages. Big_mike and rohirrimknight you were the last two at 1:30pm CST to say I had a new message.
So If I have not replied to your message, send an email to nathanh915@gmail.com.

On the first page I have the primed F14 nozzel on my spotcat. I would like to get a set of each painted and pictures posted next week. I am slowly getting more time to work on these and a few other projects.

Nathan just got my nozzles in the mail. These things are huge, they don't even look like they'd fit. Really excited to start this project. Just wondering do you have any paint suggestions? This is my first project since high school which will require paint so I figure a little advice couldn't hurt.

Re: F-14 GE F110 & F18 F404 Exhaust Nozzel
Big_Mike, Like I always say go big or go home. They'll fit and look pretty cool when you get them on.
As far as painting goes, make sure you wash them very well with lukewarm water and soap. I've heard some people use engine degreaser before washing to get all the release agent removed.
I'm going to use testors model masters primer and Jet exhaust to paint mine. I cut a thin slit in some construction paper and plan to use some acrylic black to paint the black portions where the feathers slide back and forth. Then I'll seal it with a flat clear coat.
I hope that helps. Post some pics of your progress.

Nathan,
Received my F-18 Hornet nozzles and they are a huge light-years improvement over the BBi originals. You sent them Sprue Brother quick as well!
Thanks,
Mike

Nathan,
I received my F/A-18 exhaust nozzles today and I am super pleased. As Mike stated, they are an unbelievable improvement over the factory parts. Great job!!!!!!!
Let me know when you get those closed F-14D nozzles done..... I will be first in line for 2 sets.
Thanks again!

Re: F-14 GE F110 & F18 F404 Exhaust Nozzle
Dragon - I just finished painting a set of F14 and F18 nozzles for another board member. The most important step is getting the parts cleaned verrrry well. You need to remove all of the mold release agent otherwise the primer/paint will peal right off.
I used rustoleum primer and silver for the paint. I made a template for the black portion where the blades rub together. I used black acrylic and airbrushed those on. The template gave the rubbed portions a feathered look. Using tape for that would leave the lines to crisp.
I used a was of the acrylic black on the inside of the F14 nozzles. The inside of the F18 I airbrushed a mixture of a little white and tan acrylic to get the look of the ceramic plates. Then I used model masters engine exhaust thinned and painted the portions in side. A little wash with the black again to give it that dirty look.
Once everything had dried I sprayed everything with a matte sealer. I will post some pics of the finished product.
I finished up the closed nozzle and pouring the mold tomorrow. I think you will be pleased.
Hope that helps.
