i recently purchased a door mat, made of fine pile carpet like material. It was green in colour, 2 feet by 3 feet. I put my spitfire on top of it and it just brought it to life. I have the spitfire posed in take off mode, with the tail wheel off the ground...sitting on the green mat it just looks great. The mat cost $5 and has doubled my enjoyment of my spitfire.
Inspired by this, i bought 3 more mats. These ones were a sandy grey colour. One i am going to cut in half lengthwise and use as a dirt road for a short column of german armour. The other two i am going to cut into strips and use as a 12 to 18 foot long dirt road for some russian zis 6 trucks i plan to make from Indy trucks. I'm also going to make some russian soldiers running in panic. I plan to put the whole thing outside on the ground, below my balcony and hang my Rudel stuka dive bombing it. From 60 feet up it should look pretty cool. The neighbours may point and laugh at me and throw things on me but i am prepared for that..
Rugs
well the stuka/russian truck thing is far from finished...it's little more than a twinkle in my eye at this point. I'm still trying to decide how many trucks, troops etc
The spitfire looks like an xd spitfire on a green mat that is grass coloured.
The armoured column is ready to go but i have still to cut the mat into strips. When done it will look like 4 xd german tanks on a 6 foot long patch of dirt road.
There, a thousand words instead of pics.....my camera is on the fritz again.
