Now cooked : M3 half track FINISHED !

You have seen it as a sneak preview of what's cooked on my bench. Here is it now, almost ready...

general view :

First step was a light buff filter overall. Then some fading here and there using a lighter green tone. When done, weathering using dark grey to represent scratch and so on. I started right after that with a dry brushing using a light grey and some pure white. When all this has been done and dry, I then applied a dark wash made of matt black and buff heavily diluted.

Now, some close shots :

I still need to give it a nickname. I was thinking of something like Brooklyn Bitch.

Next step will be markings, varnish, dust and adding all stuff a M3 can carry.

Stay tuned.

The mind is the limit. As long as the mind can envision the fact that you can do something, you can do it, as long as you really believe 100 percent.

Phil, Very cool...Great looking Custom!
As for the nickname.............Who would have thought that You in Belgian and Me here in NY went out with the same Girl?
I don't think that nickname would fit in the WWII time frame. Maybe now Iraq and Afghanistan.

Hi guys,

my M3 half track is now finished. Covered from a hot summer dust. Here is the story behind it...

it belongs to the 3rd Armored Divison "Spearhead", 33rd Armored Regiment HQ. Parts of the Combat Command B (Colonel Boudinot).

On the 2nd of september 1944, elements from the Task Force Lovelady entered the belgian city of Frameries. They immediatly open fire against german troops retreating across the main street trought Mons.

After a quick battle, some SDKFZ 7 and trucks are burning along the street and crossroad. Civilian start to acclaim their liberators and come to shake hands and offer wine and goodies. A road block is installed.

But soon after, some SS belonging to the Hitler Jugend force the road block. Hopefully they are quickly forced to silence even if a sherman has been hit and disabled. Frameries and its citizen are now a fully liberated city !
