Custom 1/18 Punisher Figure- Update 5/17/09

Post by Birddog » Sat Feb 07, 2009 11:40 pm

The new 1/18 (4") Marvel line is due to hit shelves this year. One of my favorite characters Marvel has created over the years is The Punisher. I'm not too impressed with the Punisher figure(s) that is coming in this new line so I decided to create my own.

I wanted to create a Punisher based of the recent Garth Ennis storyline and Tim Bradstreet art work (see below).

So to get this custom rolling I chose the following parts below to capture this look the best that I could:

Headsculpt I found online.

25th Anniversary GI Joe Bazooka figure

Testors Acrylic Flat Black Paint

Mixture of Testors Acrylic Skin Tone and Dark Skin Tone

Testors Acrylic Flat White

Testors Acrylic Dull Coate

Here is where I'm at so far....the only major thing I have left at this point is the famous or infamous skull:

I'll keep updating as I complete more. Hope you all enjoy.

Perfect Part selection, great job, on the face painting, I've tried using some of those unpainted faces before. I find the faces very difficult to paint.

Great Job, I can't wiat to see the end results.

Thank you guys..... :D !!!!!

When pictures of the Bazooka figure first appeared, I thought, there is the perfect action figure body for a Punisher custom. The only thing left was to find a headsculpt that screamed The Punisher. Luckily I found Tri-Gate Creations website with tons of headsculpts for sale. I scrolled through them and found the one I chose to use. It had the perfect look to me.

I had to dremel out the head a bit to fit the neck ball joint. Painting the face took a few coats and my small brushes..... :). I am pleased with the results.

I'll keep you posted. Thanks again.

Looks like its coming along really good, cannot wait
to see your finished figure. That head you found
does have a Francis Castigliano look to it.
I used to buy around 10 comics a month, mainly X titles
and wolverine, but now only Punisher, Jonah Hex and
2000AD from England. Sorry that Garth Ennis is
moving on from Punisher.

Here are a few updated pictures of the Punisher custom I started a few months back. I just finished putting the defining skull on his chest. I also added a knife to his right boot.

Very cool Birddog
